Die, Monster, Die!  (1965), directed by Daniel Haller, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical stereo. Note : Not just German for "The, Monster, The", this is actually an early Lovecraft adaptation (although coming after The Haunted Palace), starring Boris Karloff, and directed by Daniel Haller, who was a set designer on several of Corman's Poe cycle films. It's a pretty loose adaptation, but it's not bad, if a bit slow. The plot concerns Stephen Reinhart, a scientist who travels to the village of Arkham, England, to visit his fiancée Susan, who he met at college in the US. However, her father is not very receptive, her mother is bedridden with a mysterious illness, and a strange fire, which later turns out to have been caused by a meteorite, has charred part of the estate grounds. Several people around them sicken and die, as it's discovered Susan's father has been experimenting with the effects of the meteorite's radiation on plants and wildlife. Things predictably get out of hand as the people affected by the meteorite become alien and aggressive. This bare-bones remaster has no extras, commentary, or subtitles, but the image and sound quality are pretty good for what it is, in particular showcasing the rather nice cinematography.
